Honoured as the "2009 Singer of the Year" in the last Midem Awards, the Oscars of Classical Music, the Latvian singer hadn't made a debut in Galicia until now. Since her early début at the Salzurg Festival, this young mezzo leads the new generation of opera stars that capture all magazine covers, record deals and shows in the main international theatres and international music competitions.
Exclusive artist for the Deutsche Grammophon label, her recent record with bel canto arias has been one of the best welcomed surprises of the last season. Garança will perform for the first time ever in A Coruña after having recently captivated the audiences of Vienna ("The Knight of the Rose"), London (“I Capuletti e i Montecchi”) and New York ("Carmen") with her vibrant performances.
