Arias from operas by G. F. Händel
Il Complesso Barocco, founded by Alan Courtis in 1992, has turned into one of the most acclaimed specialists in the interpretation of the music of Händel and other Baroque authors. Since its foundation, the group, sponsored by the famous North American writer Donna Leon, has been presented in the world's main music centres and has done important recordings for labels like DGG-Archiv, that have been distinguished with many prizes.
This time, Alan Courtis, one of the fathers of musical historicism, will accompany the mezzo Ann Hallenberg in a programme of opera arias by G. F. Händel, that will be hosted by the Circulo das Artes of Lugo. The Swedish singer, regular collaborator of great conductors like Marc Minkowski, Fabio Biondi or Frans Brügge, has emerged in the recent years as an essential value in the programmes of great theatres, especially in the Baroque repertoire. Under the baton of Riccardo Muti, she was one of the summoned stars among the cast of "L’Europa riconosciuta” by Salieri, for the reopening ceremony of La Scala in Milano.
